Working with Bay Modern Build has been fantastic; they were great at communicating throughout the whole process, they were very conscious of our budget, and their workmanship exceeded our expectations. We hired them to help us design and remodel our kitchen and second-story porch in our 1914 Oakland triplex. They were great at taking our initial ideas and putting together a clear plan to bring them to life, and they were very willing to fabricate a few custom elements that other firms were spoke with were unwilling to consider. They navigated the byzantine city permitting process with expertise, and once the project was underway, the crew always showed up on time, worked hard all day, and left the job site clean at the end of the workday. When the inevitable hiccups arose, we were so thrilled with the way that Jay and Miu navigated the pitfalls and pivoted to solutions. They were both very communicative about change orders and additional costs. And in the end they finished the project early and on budget! We had a great experience end to end with Miu and Jay. She replied quickly to my request and I knew from our phone consultation that it would be a strong partnership. She asked a lot of questions that showed her engagement and interest. We had a general sense of what we wanted for our kitchen remodel and Miu guided us with some ideas and suggestions to polish our vision. Throughout the process they were highly communicative, organized, and regularly dropped in to provide direction to the project team and ask us questions. Each day the project team would clean everything up and vacuum the outdoor area so that our child was protected from construction debris. Being licensed contractors, everything was built to code, which was important for a complete tear down remodel for the kitchen. Their price was about 20-30% lower than the other contractors who came to see the project and the timeline was 2-4 weeks faster. The crazy part is the project was delivered exactly on budget and even a bit earlier than estimated. We love the new kitchen and feel like we bought a new house. We worked with Bay Modern Building to remodel our kitchen by opening up the space with a new layout and replacing tile, countertops, lighting, and cabinets. I cannot say enough positive things about working with them, here are some highlights. I am pregnant and wanted piece of mind that the job would be done before my due date. Not only did they finish before my due date, they started the project early and ended it 3 weeks before the deadline we had agreed upon! In our experience, finishing construction projects early is rare! They worked within our budget and were the best priced licensed contractors we interviewed. Miu is an amazing project manager and has many creative ideas for kitchens. After discussing our vision, she sent us several products to review so we could shop around and pick final materials. She uses an online interactive platform to approve product choices so everything is very clear. The construction crew that did the remodel work was incredibly hard working, respectful, and very clean. The great reconstruction work of my kitchen couldn't have been possible without Simon, Jay, and the team of Bay Modern Building Incorporation. Through the last 10 years, I placed my home for rent, the aging of my cabinets and the countertop was inevitable, and I determined that the overall condition was not up to my expectations. I was able to smoothly communicate my requests to Simon and Jay's team, and without hesitation, they accepted my commission. During the short period I was out of the country and unavailable, they finished reworking my kitchen and left me greatly impressed by how they went above and beyond my standards. They were able to repaint and rework my cabinets, even adding a beautiful touch of a marble top to my counters. They replaced the older fashioned look of my kitchen into a modern monochrome style. Before the team left, they made sure to fix up the entire kitchen, making it as great as new as well as to make sure there would not be problems in the future. I really appreciated their cleanup work, as they left the kitchen clean and ready to use as soon as I returned.

I could not be happier with my experience. From the bid to the final results, Miu, Jay, and Simon were incredible. They worked within my budget and were meticulous with the details and the job site. My job was a primary bathroom remodel, and I thought I might have to move to a guest room while they worked on the job, but they sealed off the area they were working in, and it caused almost no disruption to my daily life. They also helped me think through all the tiny details that came up and found solutions without my having to ask. They cut no corners and have a great deal of pride in the work they do. I was the most impressed with their attention to every tiny detail, which led to an amazing final project. One of the tiles I selected was a large format textured tile, which had to be a challenge to work with, but they mitered all the edges like pros, and the end result was perfect. I've already passed their name on to countless friends and would not hesitate to work with them on any other project I have.
