Don Waters Construction

In 2014, we hired Don Waters Construction to do the design and construction of an addition to our house in Albany, CA, adding a bedroom and bathroom. In addition, we had him expand and remodel the existing bathroom in the old part of the house, as well as make some improvements to the kitchen (new granite countertops, tile floor, sink and oven hood). Don had a team of 3-4 people working every weekday, and they completed the six-figure job on budget, on schedule (4 months, as we'd hoped) and with no accidents or unpleasant surprises. Don's crew was reliable and pleasant to be around. Clearly, he takes care to choose and manage his employees. Don also came up with some very creative design solutions to issues that came up along the way (such as where to add closets in small bedrooms so as to maximize living space while providing ample storage). He's got very good problem-solving skills. We have been very pleased with our expanded house. One important aspect of working with Don that may not come through in reviews like this is his integrity. A good guy who does good work! As a former Permit Technician, I've worked with many contractors over the years. I had the pleasure of working with Don for almost a year. Don was a personable man to work with, well organized, passed inspections, customers never complained about Don, and he treated his employees respectfully. Oh, and he could make me laugh.

Don and his crew were an amazing find! We had several years of deferred maintenance that we could defer no longer. Don was quickly available to evaluate our work. He gave us and quick and fair priced estimate. He provided excellent advice and suggestions for the best ways to balance our needs with our budget. His work crew was absolutely amazing! Ulises and crew were friendly and kept us advised of their work for each day. They were accommodating to our personal scheduled where they could be. I would strongly recommend Don and his crew for any work you may have!

Don will make you rethink your opinion of a contractor. This guy is great! He took the time to chat with me on the phone and answered all sorts of questions. This is a HUGE help for us as we are looking for a new home. And he didn't charge even a penny for his professional insight. However I think it will work in his favor, as I now have a go-to contractor to call when my next project comes along!

It was lovely meeting Don today. He came out to give a bid on several things we are wanting to do on our new home. He seemed very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time to talk through the various projects. He actually encouraged us to take our time deciding on exactly what we wanted done, and he put me at ease about it all. I am looking forward to using his company- above all he did not charge us for his time today!
