Plus One Construction

If you're reading this, you've probably already asked all your friends about their contractors. And they probably offered a tepid approval at best, a nightmare at worst. The bigger their project, the worse their experience. Amirite? I'm here to tell you, we are the unicorn that actually loved our contractor. We did a major remodel, addition and ADU project with Hubert / Plus One Construction. Which turned out more complicated than a clean tear-down and re-build. I shudder to imagine how it would have gone without Plus One. Hubert was a true partner. Someone we could trust had our best interests through all the surprises that inevitably pops up on a large project. We decided to go into this project without a designer. As it turned out, we were a bit in over our heads. But Hubert takes the time to outline all the options, pros and cons. Way more specific, practical and actionable compared to the dozens of reddit comments you might rabbit hole into when you're posing as a designer. Plus One is not the cheapest per se. We would know because we vetted and received proposals from over 10 contractors. And while I'm usually unreasonably cheap, we just got the right vibes from Hubert. And t

Hubert and team renovated our house: 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen, removed a load-bearing wall, new electric wiring & subpanel. Everything looks great now and we're very happy. They took care of the permits, structural, plumbing, electric, etc. The entire project took about 5 months and we had good communication with Hubert throughout this time. We selected the materials (flooring, fixtures, paint, appliances, etc) and bought them - then Hubert's team would pick them up. The work was structured in about 6 phases with 10% or 20% payments at the completion of each. We also received competing quotes from 3 other GCs and Plus One Construction was the most reasonable while still giving us peace of mind.

It's not easy to find an honest, trust-worthy and responsible contractor who also has great workmanship, and I am so glad I found Hubert with Plus One Construction. I have had bad experiences before, in one occasion a contractor leaves bad job with no recourse, and I had to hire another to correct the mistakes. Having experienced bad contractors, I can honestly say my experience with Plus One Construction has been exceptional where I now call Hubert my contractor for life! My project started with a water problem in our master bathroom. Hubert came out multiple times to discuss and explore with me my options, all the while patiently answering my multitude of questions. He gave me ideas and insights that helped me decide on layouts, design elements and functions that met my needs and budget. I ultimately decided to strip and re-do the whole master bathroom (which entailed moving the doorway, re-route plumbing etc), and then we added on a face-lift to another full bath, and then added on some interior paint job. This is a long over due review for Hubert and his team at Plus One Construction. I'm very excited to see they finally have a Yelp space so I can share with y'all how wonderful they are. We were looking for a company to help with our remodeling project (we have a pretty major renovation which includes knocking down wall to open up the kitchen, opening a wall to make a sliding door into the backyard, expanded a half bath to a full bath, etc.) and Hubert came highly recommended by a friend. We met him for the first time at the house. Hubert and his partner came on time and inspected the house thoroughly and came back with a quote quickly. It is very important to point out that I have worked with some contractors in the past who gave me very attractive quotes but the cost at the end just keep adding up (bait and switch). Hubert was very transparent and honest about the project costs/allowances so we were well informed with the finances upfront. We did a second floor renovation turning footprint that was a walk through closet and bathroom into two bathrooms plus new built in closets for two bedrooms. It was a total transformation and Plus One did an amazing job. They were responsive, thorough, creative, and on schedule. When there were issues they were quick to resolve. When we had a tricky concept in mind, they were part of the solutioning. They kept their work space clean, and were very respectful. We are really pleased with the process and the outcome!
