Mahalat Engineering

I hired Ali again a second time. A few years ago he helped me to understand and manage a complicated and expensive job of installing underpinning to my foundation. My home is 100 years old. Then this month, I had concerns about another area after seeing cracks in the stucco. I got two bids from foundation contractors. They were very different and one was lacking in detail. So I called Ali again for his opinion. He let me know what is actually needed and it's a lot less work than these contractors had said. I am grateful that he is honest and helps me evaluate and understand whats best for my house and my budget.

Ali Mahalat was great to work with, explained upfront what he would do, and the project worked out well. I initially got bids to repair my foundation but felt I should have an independent engineer give me his opinion, so I engaged MEC. Ali gave me different options for my foundation repair. We got two contractor estimates. The cost was less than my initial bids, and I was able to do additional drainage work with the savings. He has the client's best interest in mind and practical. He thinks about what he would do if he was the property owner.

I hired him for engineering work in Vallejo, it was an unpleasant experience. There was a disagreement on the amount of dirt listed to be off-hauled. My project site was flat and near sea level and off-haul generates additional fees.

Ali has been a great asset to me in my real estate career as well as my property management career. He has provided comfort and knowledge in some important times of my clients lives when making such a big decision/investment. He is very experienced, nice & easy to work with.
